Robusta coffee is indigenous to Zaire; what used to be the Belgian Congo. The bulk of Zaire's coffee is Robusta, although some fine arabica is produced and exported. The coffee here is grown at 4,000 to 7,500 feet; some of the highest grown in the world. Coffee here is known by the district in which it is grown. Fine arabica's from Zaire are comparable to fine high grown South American coffee's; Rich, strong and high in acidity.
